The Book of Eli (2010)

The Book of Eli [Blu-ray] The Book of Eli is a crafty action adventure, based in future post-war America. The barren wastelands create a rich backdrop for a long walk.  Denzel Washington, Eli,  has been walking for a very long time, with a stoic goal of delivering a book to somebody, somebody he doesn't know.  With time, bits of information are released to evolve a violent plot, there are others who want the book just as much and will stop at  nothing to retrieve it.

The Book of Eli is beautifully shot; in a noir style much like Sin City or Kill Bill it produces some stunning comic strip shots.  Unfortunately, the plot isn't really that interesting.  It falls down because the motivating factors of protagonist and sundry are just not very believable.  Its all very thin.   The ending is cute; its a result of a movie cautiously releasing facts, the end being the the most curious fact of the whole. The action scenes are stunning but the romantic sub-plot is incredibly thin.

Unfortunately, despite the BluRay being and incredible visual experience; I would doubt there would be great rewatch value.  Rental.
